This is a self-initiated project in which I wanted to draw a very simple and in some way traditional, but bright and cute story about farm animals for a very young kids up to 3 y.o
As a kid I spent every summer in my grandma's village house and she always had a lot of animals, including pigs, chicken, geese, cats, dogs and lots of her neighbours had horses, cows, rabbits, turkeys, sheeps and bees
My childhood memories from that time helped me to work on sketches
Please, let me share with you very raw sketches, as a tiny tribute of creative process

And here are final layout
I wanted this book to be vivid but at the same time balanced, so all colors would work well together. After a few color tests, I picked these colors as a pallet for the book
Since this is a book for very young children, I decided to keep the illustrations very simple without being overly detailed, letting simple shapes and bright colors be the main accents
Hope that one day this concept will become a real book and kids will enjoy it (•◡•)
Usually I work on the cover last and I like to make many variations to see what works best. This time I made about 10 options and I will show you 4 of my favorites. After a little research and color tests, I settled on the version with mother duck and little ducklings
And I just couldn't resist playing a bit with mockups imagining how illustrations from this book will look like on children's clothes and decorations.
I mean, is it even legal for kid's socks to be so cute?
Thank you so much for watching this project!
