Hello guys! Hope you are doing fine

I would like to share with you my personal project, which is a work in progress.
I hope that someday it becomes a real book for kids

For this project I decided to mix a children's board book and a theme I am very interested in - ecology and sustainable lifestyle. Sounds great, isn't it?

This is how the idea of an "ECO-FRIENDLY ABC for kids" was born.
Usually I start with very simple, raw sketches on paper. I tend to make tiny sketches just to see the composition, the idea itself. It helps me not to dive into the details and get stuck on the first stage.

Here are initial sketches for a few spreads and the cover
Then I switched to the Procreate to work on each sketch. In this project I used the font "Cuto" which was made by myself eons ago. It is based on paper cut letters, I still like it and remember how much fun it was to cut all the letters and then make a real font out of them, magic!
Let me show you some sketches in detail and what turned out of them! I hope that you do like to see the process with sketches as much as I do. The first one is B - for bees
And a little cute mockup of a book spread
E is for Earth, obviously! There were a few different sketches, but after all I decided to work on the first one, it was pretty simple and illustrated the idea I wanted this spread to be about - we only have one planet, it's our home and we should take care of it
C is for Compost and happy compost worms. Did you know that compost worms can live up to 7 years?! And they are workaholics, they can convert most kitchen scraps to finished compost in less than two weeks.
R - recycle. Usually when I'm happy with the initial sketch I do a quick color sketch. Later in the final art process color palette can be changed a bit, but that quickie color base helps me a lot
V - for vegetarian. In my childhood I spent every summer in my grandma's house in a tiny village. One of my favourite things (besides making "soup" of flowers and twigs) was watering the plants. I had a water can that is very similar to one that this little proud gardener has. And my awesome grandma still (at the age of 89) grows lots of vegetables every summer
Do you like to watch the process? I hope you said yes, because I have a video of making the cover in Procreate. You'll see some options for the cover I had and hope you'll like my final choice
this project was so much fun and joy to work on. I really hope you enjoyed it too!
thank you for watching

take care and have a nice day
